What The Seller Says About 5964 Central Avenue
What are features of your home that you've really enjoyed?
We love the layout of the home, and especially the updated Kitchen with breakfast bar. We also love the arched walkways, the hardwood floors, the built-in shelves, and the all-brick exterior. These qualities immediately made this house feel like a “home” to us. We probably spend most of our time in the kitchen -- it’s our favorite room – we love the bright turquoise walls, the breakfast bar, and the open layout. We also love the private backyard and patio – it’s our own private sanctuary and the perfect spot to relax and enjoy good weather days with a nice cold beverage.
What can you tell us about your neighborhood?
The Meridian-Kessler neighborhood is so unique since it is located right in the middle of the city. It is so easy to get downtown for work or a big event, or to go up north to Carmel, Westfield, and other towns to visit our friends who have moved to the ‘burbs. We absolutely love the area. All of the houses have such charm and character, and have been maintained so well. We love to take long walks down Central/Pennsylvania/Washington to soak it all in. And the Meridian-Kessler home tour is a can’t- miss event for us each year!
Where do you love to eat?
We love the fact we can walk to so many great restaurants – Binkleys and Ambrosia are just around the corner, and we can walk one direction to Patachou or Illinois St Food Emporium for brunch on the weekends, or Napolese for dinner with friends, or we can walk the other direction to HopCat, Kilroys, and other Broad Ripple spots for a night out or to watch a big game.
Grocery stores and other conveniences?
There are several great options for grocery stores nearby: We typically go to the Marsh at 62nd and Keystone for most items, but we often stop by Fresh Market (at 54th and College) on the way home to grab any key ingredients for cooking. There is also a new Fresh Thyme coming soon in Broad Ripple Village. And we can’t forget the best butcher in the city, Kincaids, which is walking distance away at the little town square located at 56th and Illinois, next to Starbucks, Byrne’s Grilled Pizza, Illinois St Food Emporium and the Safeway grocery store.
What other things do you love or enjoy about the area?
Our house is just a block and a half away from the Splash Park located at 60th and Park. Our daughter loves playing in the splash park in the hot summer months, and she can play on the swings and playground all year. We even break out our tennis rackets to play when time allows!
Anything else? Neighborhood amenities?
We love that the house is close to the Central Canal – we use the towpath along the canal as our running trail. It’s great to go for a run and get to see parts of Butler’s beautiful campus – which helps distract us from the fact that we’re running!
